StatSheet's NEC Player of the Week for January 21st goes to Sacred Heart's Shane Gibson. StatSheet's NEC Freshman of the Week is Brandon Peel from Central Connecticut State. And finally, Joe O`Shea from Bryant is the StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week. Gibson tallied 50% shooting, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 3 three pointers per game. The Sacred Heart senior played well for the Pioneers in a victory against St. Francis (PA) and a loss to Robert Morris.

Gibson topped all scoring and rebounding for the Pioneers with 27 points and 6 rebounds in a 66-62 loss to Robert Morris. He followed that up with a team-leading 23 points plus an additional 5 rebounds in a narrow 75-72 victory against St. Francis (PA).

This is the second time this season that Shane Gibson has been named StatSheet NEC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Jamal Olasewere, a senior from Long Island. Honorable mention goes to Alex Francis, a junior from Bryant. The highest ranking player from St. Francis (NY) was Jalen Cannon who finished 16th.

StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week: Central Connecticut State's Brandon Peel

Brandon Peel was on the floor an average of 35 minutes starting both games for Central Connecticut State. His averages in both rebounding (9.5 per game) and blocked shots (1.5 per game) led all NEC freshmen. In a 73-66 win over Wagner, Peel topped the Blue Devils in rebounding with 8 and tossed in 3 blocked shots. Then in an 80-75 loss to Mount St. Mary's, he led rebounding with 11 and added 3 assists.

This marks the second time this season that Brandon Peel has won the StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week. De`Aires Tate from Sacred Heart gets runner-up. Christian White from Monmouth takes honorable mention. Anthony White, who finished 7th, was the highest ranking freshman for St. Francis (NY).

StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week: Bryant's Joe O`Shea

Joe O`Shea, a 6-4 Sophomore guard, averaged 26 minutes over two games for the Bulldogs. In a close 79-78 win over Mount St. Mary's, O`Shea put up 4 assists and 60% shooting. During a strong 82-59 win against Wagner, he racked up 12 points and 2 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week honor for Joe O`Shea. Sam Prescott, a junior guard from Mount St. Mary's, is runner up. Ousmane Drame, a sophomore forward from Quinnipiac, earns honorable mention. The highest ranking 6th man from St. Francis (NY) was Travis Nichols who finished 4th. St. Francis (NY) has won the StatSheet NEC Player of the Week award once this season.
