Shane Gibson from Sacred Heart has been selected for StatSheet's NEC Player of the Week for December 24th. E.J. Reed from Long Island has earned StatSheet's NEC Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Sam Prescott from Mount St. Mary's takes home StatSheet's NEC 6th Man of the Week. Gibson registered a strong showing in rebounding (4 per game), shooting (50%), and three pointers (3 per game). The Sacred Heart senior put these numbers up in losses to Stony Brook and La Salle.

Gibson led the Pioneers in scoring with 22 points and added 2 blocked shots in a 64-59 loss to Stony Brook. That was followed by a team-leading 19 point and 4 rebound performance in a 100-71 loss to La Salle.

This is the first StatSheet NEC Player of the Week honor for Shane Gibson. The runner-up this week is Quinnipiac sophomore Ike Azotam. Honorable mention goes to Central Connecticut State junior Matt Hunter. Travis Nichols was the highest ranking player from St. Francis (NY), finishing fourth.

StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week: Long Island's E.J. Reed

E.J. Reed averaged 17 minutes of playing time starting both games for Long Island. He bested all NEC freshmen in blocked shots (1.5 per game). In an 80-67 loss to St. Peter's, Reed contributed 5 points and 2 rebounds. Then in an 89-58 loss to Seton Hall, he added 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

This is the first StatSheet NEC Freshman of the Week award for E.J. Reed. The runner-up is Shane McLaughlin from Bryant. Honorable mention goes to Kendrick Ray from Quinnipiac.

StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week: Mount St. Mary's's Sam Prescott

Junior Sam Prescott, a 6-3 reserve guard, averaged 27 minutes over two games for the Mountaineers. In a 93-54 loss to Indiana, Prescott put up 10 points and 3 rebounds. During an 87-66 loss to Western Michigan, he racked up 14 points and 5 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet NEC 6th Man of the Week win for Sam Prescott. Our own Travis Nichols is the runner up. Mario Moody, a sophomore forward from Wagner, receives honorable mention. St. Francis (NY) has won the StatSheet NEC Player of the Week award once this season.
